Always check the validity of a teacher's ability to perform and teach. Doing a Google search on the teacher will generally give you the answers you need to make a decision.

Warning! If you are a beginner of any instrument and you start playing an instrument based on incorrect technique (given by a poor or inexperienced teacher), it will take you quite a bit of effort later on to 'unlearn' this bad technique. It's happened to me. It's not the worst thing that could happen, but it is overall a frustrating experience.

There aren't too many Online Violin Video Lessons on the web as opposed to guitar or singing lessons, so finding a good site should hopefully be easy.
